AARON FILLER MD PHD FRCS
BOARD CERTIFIED NEUROSURGEON
Dr. Aaron Filler is the world’s leading expert in treatment of nerve pain. He has revolutionized nerve-pain treatment by inventing several new technologies, including, MR neurography, which enables doctors to use an MRI scanner to examine nerves — previously a difficult-to-impossible tissue to see through MR imaging. Dr. Filler’s research in axonal transport is leading to a whole new generation of advanced pain medications. He has developed many new “minimal access” surgery methods that allow him to treat complex nerve problems with small outpatient surgeries. He has also pioneered the use of the Open MRI scanner to do surgeries and other therapies with the ultra-high precision and safety of the magnetic resonance imaging.
Dr. Filler has an MD from the University of Chicago, a PhD from Harvard University, and is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in England. His medical training included four years of medical school, eight years of neurosurgical training at one of the leading neurosurgery programs in the US, an additional one-year fellowship in neuroimaging at the University of London, another year of training in complex spinal surgery at UCLA and a fellowship in peripheral nerve surgery with Dr. David Kline in New Orleans. He is the inventor on ten major patents, has published more than twenty prominent scientific publications, and has done more than a hundred presentations at scientific and medical meetings. He is also the author of Do You Really Need Back Surgery? from Oxford University Press, a well-received 300-page book for the general public. He is on the medical staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
NELSON BOND MD
BOARD CERTIFIED ANESTHESIOLOGIST
INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Dr. Nelson Bond is an award winning Interventional Pain Management specialist, and known for incorporating new and innovative “minimal access” procedures to his arsenal, and performing extremely precise minimally invasive techniques that only a select few surgeons in the United States can perform. He is an expert analyzer of MR Neurography images and MRI images to identify complex pain generators.
Dr. Bond graduated from Howard University College of Medicine, where he earned his Medical Doctorate in 1988. He completed his internship year at the University of Texas at Houston training in Internal Medicine. Upon completion he then went to George Washington University where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Bond was accepted into the fellowship program in Critical Care Medicine at the University of California San Francisco and completed the fellowship in 1992. He remained at the University of California San Francisco and entered the Anesthesia residency program in 1992 and completed his training there in 1995. At that time Dr. Bond had completed a residency program in Internal Medicine and Anesthesia at George Washington University and University of California San Francisco respectively and a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Bond began a private practice job in Atlanta, Georgia in 1995 with a large multi-disciplinary group. It is there that he began to practice pain management. Given his previous training in Internal Medicine, Critical Care and Trauma he was uniquely qualified to practice pain management. His vision of pain was that there was always an identifiable cause and effective treatment for all pain. Intervention was the primary therapeutic modality and its success was dependent on the quality and accuracy of the physician’s evaluation and identification of the pain generators.
